Our first post-publication contribution: “But Does All That Blogging Get You CLIENTS?!?”
June 21, 2007
Jay Thompson, The Phoenix Real Estate Guy brings us the first article to be added after the site has launched: But Does All That Blogging Get You CLIENTS?!?:
Real estate is a “people business”. Yes, people chose a real estate agent based on their experience, qualifications and knowledge (incidentally, a real estate blog is the perfect medium for displaying all three of those qualities). But they also tend to chose an agent because they connect with them on some personal level. So there is your short answer: connect with your readers on a personal level.
How do you do that? Let me count the ways…
A great article, but also a great illustration of how easily a blogbook (thanks to Richard Riccelli for the coinage) can be expanded.

honestly I think it depends on the blogging platform. I think some real estate blogging platforms attract a lot of agents that like to talk (but primarily to one another or simply like to hear themselves talk).
It’s amazing to see how some of the most inane posts - for instance, a post about a meatloaf recipe on an agent-centric blog- draws an amazing number of comments. Is this really what people/consumers are interested in?
On the plus side, I do think that blogs can attract clients but more than anything, they can typically help potential clients COME FORWARD because they’ve read your blog/blog postings and feel like they can identify with you. It can help you build a relationship with a potential client before a formal relationship even exists.

I think blogging is a great way for potential customers to get to know different real estate agents and find someone that they think they would get along with. In the end it probably save clients and realtors time because the customer calls someone they will be more likely to stay with.

To get clients, I believe you must first impress them with your articles. Through your articles, you can demonstrate yourself. Yes, you can drive traffic, but the real thing is how to keep them stay longer and be one of your client.

Blogging can be a great way to make online friends and reach potential clients in numerous ways, as they or people they know read your blog and recommend you as a knowledgeable real estate agent.
Also, blogging can help you reach clients on a more personal level, instead of the normal site of “here are my listings, contact me” you can offer “here, here I am, this is me, let’s chat one on one about real estate”
And, blogging is fun!
