Art — The how of writing
Good writing is probably the decisive factor in the success of a weblog. Being first or second in a particular category counts for a lot. Being visually striking certainly doesn’t hurt — nor does audio or video podcasting. Being hard-working can cover a lot of ground. But what keeps readers coming back again and again, what gets them to subscribe to your weblog by RSS feed-reader, is good writing.
Talent can’t be taught, but technique can, and usus est magister optimus — practice is the best teacher. The more you write, the more you read good writing, the more you think about writing well, the better you’ll get. And here’s some good news: There is no better medium for writing a lot than a weblog.
